Students looking for practical further education opportunities, and others looking for new career challenges should look no further than major local employer, and household name, Tarmac. The company has announced two new apprenticeships to be based at its Dunbar Cement Plant.
The apprenticeships – one electrical and one mechanical – will last four years with recruits undertaking a year of vocational training at Edinburgh College, as well as receiving expert technical on-site training in their chosen discipline.
Elizabeth Kennedy, Tarmac’s human resources manager at Dunbar said: “We are delighted to be able to continue to offer these apprenticeships at Dunbar this year. Our apprentices have personalised training and clear development, tailored to their strengths and ambitions.
“Our apprenticeship scheme has a very successful track record with many participants completing their training and going on to take on permanent roles in our business. We look forward to receiving applicants for this year’s intake.”
