Tarmac’s Dunbar Cement plant recently supported its local Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) with a donation towards its annual Lifeboat Fete.

The plant donated £1,688 towards the cost of the event, which helps the charity raise money to continue its work to save lives at sea.

Tarmac employees Alistair Punton and Kieran Fairbairn also volunteered their time to help support the festivities.

Veronica Davis, fundraising chair at Dunbar RNLI, said: “Thank you so much to Tarmac for the very kind donation towards our annual RNLI Lifeboat Fete, our largest fundraiser of the year.

“The donation will help greatly towards the cost of running the fete and in turn allows us to raise much needed funds to help save lives at sea.”

David Morrison, environmental manager at Tarmac’s Dunbar plant, said: “We are committed to being a good neighbour and supporting the community, so we are delighted to have been able to support Dunbar RNLI with this event.

“We are pleased that the Lifeboat Fete went well. It was great to see so many people out enjoying the occasion, including a good few who work at the cement plant.”
