For a group of Berwickshire rugby players, this year’s annual tour had an added attraction – a coaching session carried out by the Sale Sharks Academy! The Berwickshire Schools Under 15s (made of players from Duns High School and Eyemouth High School) travelled to Sale in Manchester and, as part of the tour, were given a coaching session at the AJ Bell stadium.
The tour also gave the team an opportunity to try out their new drill tops which have been sponsored by Tarmac’s Dunbar Plant.
Plant Manager Oliver Curtin said: “We like to support the communities around our Plant in practical ways where we can. Sponsoring the drill kit for this enthusiastic team of young rugby players was a great opportunity for us and we were delighted to hear they got to wear the tops for the first time on tour.
Scottish Rugby Union Development Officer, Robert Grigg who supports and assists with the boys’ team added: “The tour was a great success and was an opportunity for two schools to enjoy the social tour experience, and the academy coaching allowed them to experience some different coaching techniques. We are very grateful to Tarmac Dunbar for providing us with training equipment to ensure that the team looked organised!”
